"These paintings speak of paradox: isolation in the midst of others. The figures, whether within a group or apart, appear self-absorbed. They are pushed up against boundaries (other people) and borders... perhaps a meta phor for the confines of most people's lifes. For me, these people are existential archetypes.
They are imposing, inhabiting the same space as the viewer and intimately communicating."
